Solar Suitcase Project
Green Tech Students are taught the core element of “Going Green” is to improve health conditions for all humans sharing the earth. Our goal is to develop sustainable communities and provide a cleaner environment through smart, social, economic and human development strategies.

‘Solar Suitcase Project’ Uses Solar Technology to Impact Local Students and the World - View the complete article on the Sacramento Press.

The Solar Suitcase is a portable photovoltaic lighting system, powerful enough to illuminate a small room. The project seeks to give Green Tech students an opportunity to learn how to develop solar energy, provide light and serve as humanitarians.
During the Spring of 2013, Green Tech students built 20 Solar Suitcases at Solano Community College and Cosumnes River College.  Students from Armijo High School, Laguna Creek High School, LINKS Community Schools, the Sacramento Job Corps and California State University, Sacramento all participated in the Solar Suitcase workshops.

Upon completion of the workshops Green Tech deployed and installed these critical electric systems in orphanages, schools and medical clinics in Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Haiti. The recipients have expressed gratitude toward this gift of light and solar electricity.

Green Tech trains and develops students with emerging green collar skills, providing introductory activities for career opportunities in clean energy. The Green Tech program strives to develop a skilled workforce, sustainable communities and low environmental impact initiatives.

Your generous contribution today will support these courageous students in their efforts to provide critical human assistance while learning basic principles of clean energy technical education.

The Solar Suitase Project is a for public benefit activity organized by the efforts of Green Tech, Cosumnes River College, Sacramento City College, the Sacramento County Office of Education, Solano Community College , the NorthState Building Industry Association, Allen Jensen and We Share Solar.
